Students in the Me to We Club have been preparing presentations to take part in Five Days  for Freedom—a Campaign created by Free the Children to raise awareness of what children face around the world.  Throughout the week, students will have the chance to make a difference in the lives of other young people, so that they may experience these five basic freedoms:  freedom from poverty, freedom from exploitation, freedom from thirst, freedom from disease, and the freedom to act.

Monday April 28,

will focus on Freedom from Thirst.  Some fountains will be covered to highlight the fact that some people in our world don’t get clean water as easily as we do.  Students will be encouraged to think about how lucky we are to have plentiful water, as they may encounter the slight inconvenience of walking to a different water fountain.

Tuesday April 29,

will focus on Freedom from Disease.  There will be facts around the school on band-aids and there will also be a keynote presentation on the screen in the front foyer highlighting facts about disease.  Classes will have until the end of the day to answer the questions and complete a quiz. At the end of the day, the answers will be given over the announcements and classes will have time to review and discuss their answers.

Wednesday April 30,

will focus on Freedom from Poverty.  Classes will participate in an activity where the students will decide how to use one dollar.

Thursday May 1,

Will focus on Freedom from Exploitation.  Classes will complete another quiz and also have the opportunity to view a play in the library during the second nutrition break.

THANK YOU, Me to We Club, for helping us all reflect on these important global issues!!!
